I've given it some thought and finally came up with the perfect answer to the whole debate on Article 2 of the UUA By-laws.
Keep the Purposes. Drop the Principles.
Simple.

Simplistic. . .
Why drop the principles?
The Principles are the part that seems to generate the most debate.
Nobody is debating the Purposes as far as I can see. Since there is so much arguing over the words in the Principles, it seems to be easier to drop them and keep to the stuff to which most people in the Association can agree on.
Don't know if it makes sense, but that's how my mind works.

Believe it or not the Blogger word verification code for *this* comment is bling. Still trying to figure out what significance that may portend, if any. . . ;-)
Why not just keep the principles exactly as they are, other than changing "affirm and promote" to "honor and uphold" which I have effectively been calling upon U*Us to do for years now?
The word verification code for this comment is intewar which is not inappropriate today, or indeed any other day in the War of the U*U World. :-).
Oops! That link was supposed to go to this "less than Thunderstriking" U*U Jihad propaganda video that I posted earlier today.
